About our data
Where the Floreboard flower guide gets its figures, what each one means and where it stops being reliable — plus downloadable data for 110 flowers and 11 holidays.
Key facts
- Figures are typical trade reference values, not guarantees.
- Pet toxicity follows the ASPCA list; 38 of 110 entries are flagged, and "not flagged" does not mean safe.
- The public pages and the in-app review read the same knowledge base.
One knowledge base, two uses
These pages are generated from the same knowledge base that Floreboard uses to review designs inside the product: 110 cut flowers, branches and foliage, 11 holidays, and the cultural and style rules. When a value is corrected, the public page and the in-app review change together.
What each figure means, and its limits
| Data | What it is | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Vase life | A typical range in days from common trade references, assuming a clean vase, a fresh cut and flower food. | Variety, origin, time in transit and conditioning move it by days in either direction. |
| Season | When supply is plentiful and quality steady, by Northern Hemisphere season. | Greenhouse and imported stems are sold outside these seasons, usually at a higher price. |
| Fragrance | Three levels — none, light, strong — for the common commercial forms. | Varieties differ; garden roses, for example, are far more scented than standard cut roses. |
| Pet toxicity | Flags follow the ASPCA toxic and non-toxic plants list: "highly toxic to cats" or "mildly toxic to cats and dogs". | "Not flagged" does not mean safe. Check the exact species, or ask a vet. |
| Holiday prices | Typical wholesale price multiples before each holiday, with suggested lead times. | Ranges for planning, not quotes. Local markets and individual years vary. |
| Customs and meanings | Widely documented conventions: number and colour taboos, funeral and hospital customs, flower language. | They vary by family, generation and region. Ask the client when unsure. |
| Botanical names, roles, colours, handling | Editorial notes written for these pages from standard horticultural and floristry practice. | Colours list natural hues only; handling notes are general and may not suit every variety. |
